Paver Restoration & Sealing

The short answer

Paver restoration is the process of cleaning, re-leveling settled units, replacing joint sand with polymeric sand, and sealing an existing paver surface to renew its appearance and stability. Stepping Stone Hardscape restores paver patios, walkways, and driveways across Southern Maryland — reviving hardscapes that have faded, shifted, or grown weeds without the cost of a full rebuild.

An existing paver surface rarely needs to be torn out. Most of the time it needs to be cleaned, releveled where it’s settled, re-sanded, and sealed — restoration, not replacement.

We clean out failed joints, reset any units that have sunk or heaved, refill the joints with polymeric sand, and apply a sealer that locks the sand, deepens the color, and makes future cleaning easier. It’s the most cost-effective way to make an older hardscape look new again.

Paver Restoration & Sealing: your questions, answered

Most paver surfaces benefit from resealing every 3–5 years, depending on sun exposure, traffic, and the sealer used. Sealing renews the color and keeps the joint sand locked in so weeds and washout stay away.

Yes. Settled or heaved areas are lifted, the base is corrected and recompacted, and the pavers are reset flush. It’s a routine part of restoration and far cheaper than replacing the surface.

If the pavers themselves are intact, restoration almost always makes more sense. Cleaning, re-leveling, re-sanding, and sealing can make a decade-old surface look new at a fraction of replacement cost. We’ll tell you honestly if a rebuild is the better call.
